Virginia State Government Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Tazewell, Virginia
The Division of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) assists individuals with disabilities to make informed choices that will maximize their employment through coordinated service delivery. In collaboration with the Workforce Network, we deliver quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work and employers seeking to hire them.
This position provides comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services which result in employment and enhanced independent living for persons with disabilities while complying with federal, state, and agency policy and procedures. In partnership with persons with disabilities, this position will develop employment focused, goal oriented plans and coordinate the related services necessary for a person to become successfully employed. Core vocational case management services may include guidance and counseling, training, physical/mental restoration, and job placement services. Caseload consists of individuals with substance abuse.
Experience with the principles and practices of vocational service delivery to youth and adults with disabilities. Experience interviewing, evaluating, and counseling individuals with disabilities. Experience with Caseload Management and Case Documentation. Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and tools for career counseling and exploration. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to communicate information effectively in writing and verbally. Demonstrated knowledge of ADA compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience using Windows based computer software.
Master’s, Specialist, Doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or copy of current CRC credential or documentation of CRC eligibility required. Transcripts must accompany the application and they MUST display the date that the degree was awarded.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of vocational service delivery to adults with Substance Abuse disabilities preferred.
This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate.
