Job Title: Transportation Program Manager – Americas

Summary

Hands on leader with proven experience in transportation and vendor management. Responsible for a multi-million dollar transportation spend encompassing all modes domestic and international for the Americas Region supporting the delivery of Photovoltaic installations for residential and commercial applications. Direct experience in vendor management encompassing transportation suppliers and support organizations, including TMS and Freight payment suppliers. Drive efficiency and manage KPIs to improved quality of services. Ability to work in a matrix management structure and operate cross functionally to address transportation needs for multiple departments. Familiarity with international air and ocean, compliance and safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of direct and/or indirect staff

  • Train and guide staff to provide and maintain exemplary customer service-to customers and business partners.

  • Oversee daily transportation activities including planning, scheduling, tracking, reporting, claims and issue management.

  • Participate in network design activities. Identify cost savings and efficiency improvement opportunities and drive to closure initiatives.

  • Owns policies and procedures including documentation review, SOPs and other written material.

  • Owns KPI Metrics monitoring and reporting

  • Serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management

  • Provide colleagues and customers with information, guidance and expertise in all transportation matters

  • Responsible for cost forecasting and management

  • Analyze the financial impact of changes in rates, routing, vendor, customer demand

  • Act as vendor manager and assist senior management with supplier rate negotiations

  • Collaborate on the selection of supply chain partners including ocean carriers, rail operators, truckers

  • Evaluate performance of carriers and institute corrections or changes as necessary.

  • Drive identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities

  • Perform root cause analysis for transportation related issues

  • Point of escalation for all transportation related issues

  • Review and recommend improvements to automated and technological platforms

  • Ensure compliance of all parties with regulatory requirements, laws and regulations

Education and Qualifications

  • Team player with proven ability to work under pressure

  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment - manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

  • Self-directed, displays initiative and can work independently

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Proactive communication style

  • Possess strong analytical and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to seek alternative solutions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong technology background. Experience with EDI protocols. Hands on knowledge of TMS, Track and Trace, and WMS systems

  • Experience in the use of Oracle or similar ERP systems are preferred.

  • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish a plus

  • Up to 25% travel domestically and internationally

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent practical work experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of logistics and transportation related experience

  • Basic IATA / NVOCC Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of FAA, TSA, FMC Regulations

  • Knowledgeable of Import and Export Regulations to include EAR, BIS, ITAR, USDA

  • General CBP Knowledge
