The Inside Sales Representative/Customer Service works as part of a close knit team dedicated to providing superior sales support and customer service. The sales representative works out of the ODB main Richmond, VA office and is dedicated to maximizing sales and services of products for the company using telecommunication equipment (phone, email, fax, website, etc.) as the primary means of contact with customers and dealers. The sales representative is responsible for achieving measurable results and extending stellar customer service within an assigned territory, region or group of customers, users and/or dealers.

Additionally, the selected individual:

  • Maintains a healthy client base/list through proactive, prompt and courteous customer service to existing customers and strategic acquisition of new customers via telephone, email, and other telecommunication channels.
  • Researches information and communicates with other departments as necessary, in responding to customer inquiries.
  • Develops a high level of knowledge of all product lines and applications, and makes parts product recommendations.
  • Provides product-pricing information as requested.
  • Maintains up-to-date customer records in accordance with management instructions, and prepares and submits necessary reports to management.
  • Accurately enters customer orders into ERP system, coordinates with other sales and parts employees/managers concerning availability, tracks order status and relays status to end user and customer.
  • Coordinate with other Company employees to ensure on-time delivery and customer service.
  • May promote special programs to customers to maximize sale potential.
  • May assist customers with product return situations and provide customers with the necessary authorization/request paperwork.
  • Exhibits a positive team-based attitude and demonstrated willingness to perform other customer facing responsibilities as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Basic understanding of machinery, manufacturing processes, and shipping.
  • General knowledge of sales process, selling techniques, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and their use in supporting general office and sales operations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills; including verbal and written business communication skills, and persuasive sales communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, and market and sell products, parts, and services.
  • Able to coordinate and plan various activities, and multi-task/prioritize own work to meet deadlines.
  • Self-disciplined, with the ability to complete tasks and achieve goals under limited direct supervision.
  • Able to work well under pressure and/or tight deadlines; and perform occasional overtime as necessary to meet customer demands and sales objectives.
  • Able to work with strong personalities, and respond effectively to difficult customer situations.
  • Able to demonstrate and adhere to Alamo Group Inc. and ODB's code of business conduct and ethics at all times.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in a sales oriented position(s), or equivalent is required; municipality sales experience strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily performed in an office environment with frequent sitting for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, reaching and bending may be required in the performance of general administrative office functions.
