Overview:
The core element to this position is the ability to develop and engage in
language and cultural instruction targeting critical operational regions and
emerging areas of responsibility for Marine forces. The emphasis of language
training shall be on speaking; however, job relevant language terminology and
usage in conversation is required in all training. Training shall be based on
proficiency and communicative-oriented linguistic and adult academic
educational principles as used in foreign language learning institutions such
as the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) and the
Department of State, Foreign Service Institute.
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional quality foreign language and culture training
- Provide culture language training curriculum development as required
- Provide adjunct role player or cultural subject matter expertise to Marines in accordance with provided guidelines
Qualifications:
- Strong English Language Oral and Written Skills and the ability to use Instructional Media
- Must be able to add cultural knowledge to the course
- Experience and knowledge of target region culture and language to brief Senior level Leadership aboutculture, infrastructure, social and economic issues.
- Must be a team player with a clear understanding of Marine Corps terminology, philosophy, and mission
- Ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the Military (prefer Marine Corps culture)
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Have a teaching background; previous language instruction at the college level or DLI a plus
Language Skills & Proficiency:
- Native Level Language Skills or have a minimum score of 3 in reading, writing, and speaking
on the Interagency Language Roundtable Scale in Georgian
