Job Specs Position Summary
Chaplain Residents participate in a 12-month post-graduate-level training program in pursuit of attaining 4
units (minimum of 1600 hours) in a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) center as a requirement for achieving
Board Certified Chaplain status through professional organizations. Our CPE Center is accredited by the
Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. Chaplain Residents provide spiritual care coverage over a 12
month period, which in this case will be from August 2013 to August 2014. Chaplain Residents receive a
training stipend of $26,000 over the 12-month training period, plus healthcare benefits.
Applicants will either be in a Masters-level degree program at a theological school accredited by the Association of Theological Schools ( www.ats.edu ), or will have completed such a degree prior to arrival.
Some exceptions to admission may be granted for qualified lay persons with less education.
In each unit of training, Chaplain Residents participate in 100 hours of classes, small groups, and individual supervision, plus at least 300 hours of direct spiritual care ministry to patients, family members, and staff.
Each must be skilled in the use of computers for charting of patient visits and typing educational reports.
