General Dynamics Information Technology Principal Engineer (Microsoft Azure) in Herndon, Virginia
This position serves as a Microsoft Azure Principal Engineer and subject matter expert. The role works directly with GDIT managers, architects, engineers, developers, and government customers -- providing hands on technical cloud solutions. The position requires hands-on technical design and implementation of infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The role will also work to ensure the engineered solutions in Microsoft Azure are compatible and consistent with other public, private, or hybrid cloud solutions (where possible) and consistent with customer architecture requirements. This position will bring real world Microsoft Azure engineering and solution experience and will function as part of a highly skilled, ag ile development and architecture team supporting major government cloud programs.
Designs and implements Microsoft Azure solutions for government customers.
Architects and engineers environments for new government customers migrating into Microsoft Azure and/or beginning development in Microsoft Azure.
Performs complex systems development and design work in Microsoft Azure that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.
Performs cloud systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Reviews completion and implementation of cloud system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.
Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.
Develops documentation on new or existing cloud systems.
Develops and directs tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced cloud systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibilities.
Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned (i.e. Microsoft Azure).
Participates in special projects as required.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
Microsoft Azure certification preferred
