Valley View Medical Center Director of Information Systems in Galax, Virginia
Plans, organizes and provides oversight and accountability for Information Systems services, resources and activities to achieve departmental and organization objectives.
/Education and Experience:/
Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or related field; Master’s preferred.
5 years of relevant information systems experience (preferably in a hospital environment).
Leadership skills/experience and project management skills required.
Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
Establishes and maintains contacts with vendors and outside consultants to have them provide the best possible support to hospital.
Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management.
Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development and timekeeping.
Provides training for IS staff on latest technology so they can deliver the best possible customer support to hospital users.
Provide hospital staff quality support through effective management of IS staff and resources.
Manages all dept. projects by allocating resources appropriately, leading employees, troubleshooting issues, training employees as needed and meeting all deadlines.
Supports special projects and business analysis as requested.
Monitors departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contacts, and vendor relations.
Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies and monitors usage.
Manages multiple projects at one time making sure the highest priority projects are completed by deadline.
Communicates regularly with CFO and routinely updates Executive Team on present and future projects.
Maintains hardware and software necessary to properly operate all information systems and provides training as necessary to ensure efficient use of the system by all personnel.
Arranges and schedules and communicates all systems repairs and upgrades on a timely basis.
Determines job assignments for information systems staff, in accordance with approved job descriptions, to encourage timely and accurate completion of all functions.
Enhances accessibility and retrieval time to patient information within the hospital and to the remote facilities to provide the best possible care to our patients.
Serves on committees hospital-wide and within the community as needed and /or directed.
/Physical Demands and Working Conditions:/
Lifting and carrying computer equipment (PCs, Monitors, Printers & Etc.)
Long Periods of overtime by working on computer updates and problems.
Very tight deadlines on getting projects completed on time.
Working under pressure when there is a network system failure or disruption to the hospital’s critical automated information system.
