Senior Packaging Engineer

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the process for work to flow through the NRV packaging team.

  • Drive 100% packaging definition for all active and new part numbers.

  • Ensure Packaging team compliance to the NRV packaging guideline.

  • Own the vendor compliance to ASN, label and packaging standards for the NRV facility.

  • Develop visual daily management for the packaging team.

  • Drive the use of the LCC tool and NRV packaging guidelines to guide the packaging definition.

  • Works closely with suppliers, packaging vendors, purchasing & plant personnel to define and implement the most effective packaging solution between Rack/Emballage/Dedicated/Cardboard

  • Evaluate competitiveness of the Emballage program and coordinate Emballage inventory as required to meet VLNA requirements

  • Coordinate the design, procurement of material handling racks both domestic and overseas for new product introductions and product modification

  • Manage returnable rack loops (repair, refurbish, disposition, shortage, program conference)

  • Develop and upkeep the yearly packaging and rack budget

  • Participate in the development of packaging systems

  • Provide logistic studies with packaging data/estimates

  • Act as NRV liaison and resource for other organizations, departments, committees, such as Logistics Management Sourcing (LMS), Global Packaging Tool (GPT), Baseline Packaging, Design for Logistics (D4L), Packaging Governance Committee, & Projects with LVO (Mack)

  • Effective and professional communication skills with all contracts, i.e. part suppliers, packaging companies, offsite contractors, internal customers, etc.

  • Additional projects as assigned by management

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum Years of Experience Required:

  • Four (4) years of related experience with educational requirements

  • Six (6) years of related experience without educational requirements

Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity of Materials Flows in Manufacturing Environment and/or Automotive Industry Experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, etc.
