Chesterfield County Records Specialist (MHSS) in Chesterfield, Virginia
High school diploma or GED; one year of experience in general clerical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have excellent customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to multi-task and be flexible with scheduling and provide backup coverage to the department as needed. Previous experience in a healthcare setting/medical records department is preferred. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
Responsible for monitoring records to maintain the integrity of the Electronic Health Record. This includes processing discharges and performing record reviews prior to case closures, and scanning documentation into the Electronic Health Record. The position will also be responsible for processing Release of Information requests in accordance with federal and state requirements, and will be providing coordination and consultation to providers on key medical record issues. Other key duties include answering phone calls, sorting mail/faxes, and performing other office tasks. Perform other work as required.
