Job Description

Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center is hiring for 1 Full Time dorm staff position. The incumbent will engage with clients and other rehabilitation team members to create a safe, clean, and supportive environment promoting positive social, interpersonal and self-management skills. Through an assessment process each client will be given the opportunity to learn needed skills to enhance independence. Duties will include provision of a safe living and learning residential environment for students. Hours will be 3rd Shift (midnight to 8am) 5 days a week, including every weekend, with availability for all 7 days.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience with theory & techniques utilized in behavior modification, crisis intervention and problem solving. Skills in assessing individual and group needs and ability to plan & implement programs to meet those needs. Experience relating positively to people with disabilities & knowledge of disabilities served. Good oral and communication skills Knowledge of confidentiality and boundary issues Knowledge of safety awareness in a residential setting Skill in use of a personal computer for communication and reporting purposes. Ability to foster interdisciplinary team approach By date of employment must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer direct experience working with people with disabilities in a residential, education, recreation or rehabilitation setting. Prefer Bachelors degree in Health and Human Services or in a related field working with persons with disabilities in a residential setting. Prefer experience in planning & implementing psycho-social, recreational or leisure programming/activities with groups.

Special Requirements

This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1. Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center will conduct an extensive fingerprint-based criminal history check and credentialing process on all final candidates. All job offers will be contingent upon the applicant successfully passing the required background process.” This position is designated as essential during emergency closings.
