Position Description:

The Information Technology Resource Provider (ITRP) program provides training to a wide range of employees at the USPTO in Alexandria, VA. Experienced teachers/trainers who are computer savvy are welcome to apply. Good communication skills, customer service skills, and teamwork skills are a must. The successful candidate will be responsible for varying aspects of instructional systems development in a fast-paced and innovative environment. ITRPs are expected to provide classroom training as well as phone, chat room or desk-side assistance for the federal staff. Will use and may help create eLearning tools to provide training and support.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Successfully complete 5-month ITRP Training Academy & stay current on all new USPTO automation tools

  • Teach classes as scheduled - meeting requirements of the contract Quality Assurance Plan

  • Provide on-call user support on proper use of all USPTO automation tools

  • Carry out scheduled duties to cover the ITRP Hotline, ITRP Chat Room and other support services

  • Create top-quality instructional materials or perform well on other supplemental ITRP projects, as requested

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 2 years related experience in training / education

  • BA or BS from an accredited undergraduate program in Science, English, Education, or IT field

  • Familiarity with adult learning theories

  • Customer service and customer satisfaction focus

  • Windows 10 - Microsoft Office 2016 and basic computer skills & aptitude

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Adult learning environment experience preferred

Standard work hours for this position are 8:00 - 4:30 or 8:30 - 5:00. Must be able to work as scheduled, however. (Some classes or duties finish as late as 8:00 PM.) Work days that extend after 5:00 PM can be done remotely, and may involve a later start time.

Desired Skills:

Experience with developing educational materials

Experience with remote access and collaboration software and/or hardware

Experience with technical writing/editing desirable

Experience with developing computer based training or e-learning modules desirable
